Loving and Learning in Lodi October 27 2019

Even though this week’s sermon is about Jesus and Rest, you’ll get no rest as you continue reading this week’s email! We have so many wonderful announcements for you! Please, keep reading so you’ll know all about them!
When you’re done reading, breathe a deep breath of gratitude for God’s many blessings in your own life and in the life of this church. Truly, our cup runs over as a congregation!!

                                                                          See you Sunday!                                                                                                                                             Pastor Diane

SHHHHH!!! I’VE GOT A SECRET FOR US! In September, Dottie Kimble, passed a milestone at Lodi UMC…she has worked and served us for 25 years!! WOW! So, this Sunday, October 27th we will celebrate her. Our Staff Parish Relations Committee will host a reception after worship and give her a gift during worship. We, also, want to shower her with our thanks and gratitude. Please write her a note or give her a card thanking her and sharing a memory you have of how she has helped you through the years. Bring your card with you on the 27th or mail it to P.O. Box 3, Lodi, OH  44254. REMEMBER…it’s a surprise for Dottie, so keep it quiet!

News of Jesus spread even more and huge crowds gathered to listen and to be healed from their illnesses. But Jesus would withdraw to deserted places for prayer.

                                                     Luke 9:10-11                                Common English Version

When the apostles returned, they described for Jesus what they had done. Taking them with him, Jesus withdrew privately to a city called Bethsaida. When the crowds figured it out, they followed him. He welcomed them, spoke to them about God’s kingdom, and healed those who were sick.

Celebrate 100! Capital Campaign:  Update from this Sunday:  5 new pledges of $8250 for a total of 33 pledges of $83,070. We had $26,277. So, we have a grand total of $109,347 towards the $100,000!! As Pastor Diane said on Sunday, we have reached the Celebrate 100! goal. If you haven’t given/pledged yet and still want to, please do. The Trustees have several other capital projects that they could tackle with the additional pledges and gifts. As before, pledge cards can be turned in on Sundays in the offering plate. Thank you for this overwhelming response!!

As announced on Sunday, our contractor, Ty, of Tuck and Seal, is donating the more expensive restoration wash on the outside of the building to the church. It is a gift valued at $18,000!! The building is looking quite beautiful!

Lance Music Fund:  Before she died, Donna Lance donated $2,000 to start a music fund in honor of her husband, Boyd. Boyd has been a vital part of our church’s choir for decades. Donna wanted to keep the gift of music alive. The family writes: We would like to start a Music Fund for the church in celebration of Boyd’s 70+ years in the choir. The fund can be used for special music or any other music the choir director needs. Members of the church may add to the Music Fund for the music programs. Also, it can be used for organ and piano repairs. Boyd has loved the choir and its members and misses the many good times together. Our hope is that this small donation will keep the music flowing in this church for a good long time. Thanks to all and may the love of God be always with you. The Lance Family.
