Loving and Learning in Lodi

During our Advent season, we’ve been looking at the various ‘Songs of Christmas’ that different people sang. I understand how a person can just start singing out of the blue because I do it myself! It may start with me humming a tune to myself. It may start as a silly song I sing to my dog, Miles, as I take him outside for a potty break. It may start because a random phrase of a song just went through my mind! However it starts, I ‘get’ how easy it can be to burst into song!
This Sunday, we’ll look at Mary, Jesus’ mom, and her song, called the Magnificat.

                                                                          See you Sunday!                                                                                                                                             Pastor Diane

                     Angels We Have Heard on High                   verses 1, 3 & 4                     #238

Mary said,
“With all my heart I glorify the Lord!
In the depths of who I am I rejoice in God my savior.
He has looked with favor on the low status of his servant.
Look! From now on, everyone will consider me highly favored
because the mighty one has done great things for me.
Holy is his name.
He shows mercy to everyone, from one generation to the next,
who honors him as God.
He has shown strength with his arm.
He has scattered those with arrogant thoughts and proud inclinations.
He has pulled the powerful down from their thrones and lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away empty-handed.
He has come to the aid of his servant Israel,
remembering his mercy, just as he promised to our ancestors,
to Abraham and to Abraham’s descendants forever.”

Celebrate 100 update! Three months have passed and the Trustees wanted to give an update on the progress towards restoring and fixing our wonderful building. Power washing is done. Tuckpointing is done. Replacement of lentils is done. Glass block windows will be completed by this Friday! Whew!
We will now take a break, regroup, and finalize the vents, maybe do some painting, etc. (We have some interior finishing to do around the windows.) Stay tuned as the next exterior projects will begin in the spring! Thank you for your continued support.

Please save your plastic caps & lids for a “buddy bench” at Sylvia Anderson’s great nephew, Braden’s school.
